Applications for the 2026 CDE Summer Clinic internship will open on February 4th, 2026. The final deadline is April 24, 2026. Interviews took place in May, with decisions made by Memorial Day.
The Center for Digital Engagement (CDE) offers a part-time, 10-hour-per-week paid internship in digital. The rate is $20/hour, and the internship lasts 9 weeks, typically running from early June through early August. Interns work in teams of two with startup companies in Ann Arbor SPARK’s high-tech business incubator.
There are two activities in addition to the paid part of the internship. First, you will obtain individual certification on an approved digital platform (for example, Google Analytics). Second, you will attend weekly coaching and all-hands meetings related to your work. These activities are part of a mentoring program to prepare you for entering the digital workforce. Internship meetings will be both in-person and online. In-person meetings will take place primarily in Ypsilanti, MI and Ann Arbor, MI.
All higher ed students and recent graduates (within the past 18 months) in Southeast Michigan are welcome to apply. We’ve had successful interns from a wide range of regional and national institutions, including EMU, WCC, UM, MSU, WSU, WMU, CMU, Schoolcraft, Dartmouth College, and Columbia University, among others.
The key elements of the application include a statement of purpose and a resume. Applicants are encouraged to thoughtfully craft these materials, as every submission is carefully reviewed. Even part-time jobs demonstrate your reliability and work ethic. Your statement of purpose will better help us understand what you think you can do. Be daring and go for it. The worst that can happen is that we do not offer you the internship.
