“Be confident in who you are and what role you are looking for. It is important to be an enthusiastic person that is great at working with teammates”
-Mohammad, 2021 Intern
Meet Mohammad Issa, an Eastern Michigan Alum and a past intern. Mohammad came to the Digital Summer Clinic program with a clear goal; to build connections and relationships with industry professionals and local businesses. The program provided the perfect platform, allowing him to network and gain valuable experience in digital marketing.
The Clinic wasn’t just about theoretical knowledge; it equipped Mohammad with practical skills he uses every day. “Communication and time management were huge takeaways,” he says. “These skills are crucial in my current role, allowing me to work effectively with teammates and customers.” Mohammad highlights a unique aspect of the program: the opportunity to visit the company he interned with. “Seeing a physical representation of how the job is done daily was amazing,” he shares. “This in-person experience made me appreciate my work and feel like I was truly contributing to the company’s success.”
The Clinic helped Mohammad develop a diverse skill set. “Leadership, creativity, project management, collaboration, and critical thinking are just a few of the skills I honed,” Mohammad explains. “I was also able to significantly improve my Excel and PowerPoint abilities.” Mohammad’s participation in the Clinic had a significant impact on his career trajectory. He landed a sales role with Apple Retail after the clinic! Having the Clinic on his resume was a great talking point during the interview process, demonstrating his well-rounded skill set and experience gained through practical application. Thinking about applying? Mohammad has some key advice: “Be confident in yourself and the role you’re seeking. Additionally, enthusiasm and strong teamwork skills are essential!”
